Since its inception, UCIP Academy has been dedicated to providing quality training to the members of UCIP. UCIP Academy is currently divided into three schools. These schools are Basic Sim Guide School, Advanced Courses School, and Command School, each of the schools are run by a Dean. All of the Deans report to the Commandant who is responsible for overseeing the operations of each school.
All new members to UCIP are required to complete the Basic Sim Guide training in order to be promoted in ranks within any Division of UCIP. If you are a new member, please visit the Basic Sim Guide School for a more details regarding the Basic Sim Guide training. Also please check out our 'Getting Started' guides. Once a new member has completed Basic Sim Guide training, they may apply to take any of the Advanced Courses offered here at UCIP Academy.
UCIP Academy also staff an online IRC channel on the KDFS Network. Please visit the #Academy channel for any help relating to the Academy. If the Instructor you wish to speak to at that time is unavialable, another Instructor will be able to point you in the right direction, even if it is only an email address.

This is the first step in becoming a productive member of the UCIP family. The Basic Sim Guide is required for all new members of UCIP. This program takes students through the basics of simming and teaches them how to be a productive member of a team.
Covered in this program are two different aspects of simming in UCIP. Email simming and IRC (chat based) simming. New members, who we refer to as Students, are required to take at lest one of these options. However, a student can opt to take both. Passing the Sim Guide involves reading the Basic Sim Guide, which can be found in the links to the left, passing a comprehensive exam and then either passing an IRC or Email practical exam. Any person who joins UCIP and lists themselves as a New Member is automatically enrolled in this course and should receive a Welcome Letter from an instructor.
Most Game Masters or Commanding Officers will allow a new player to start simming immediately and this is perfectly fine and very much encouraged! However, logs sent in and sims attended cannot count towards a promotion until a student passes the Basic Sim Guide. Once this has been achieved, any logs sent or sims attended will begin to count towards next promotion.
Once a student completes the practical exam with a passing grade, they will be awarded the ribbon for the section they have completed. After completing basic training, a Cadet has the option of taking advanced courses.

Any player wishing to be a Department Head, Executive Officer, or even a Commanding Officer is encouraged to enroll in these courses.
